We consider the term REFLECTION to have a dual meaning: On the one hand, there is the process of design creation,
from the first sketch to the finished product.
A designer must reflect on anthropology to create something new, and the relevance of his or her creation to society, climate, nature, politics, economy and much more. On the other hand, it is the artistic, poetic design experience that reflects the immediate movement of the visitors interacting with the touchpoints, representing reflections on the present.

  • 1 Heritage Series – PONY Distinctive legacy design features meet modernity and a glimpse of the future

Manufactured in 1975, the Pony heralded the beginning of the Korean automotive industry. The concept of timeless value has always been at the core of both exterior and interior design throughout the brand history since the first Pony. The cluster of Heritage Series – PONY is a combination of the classic feel and craftsmanship of the glass elements and modernity of LEDs. The door design of the 1975 Pony is reinterpreted into a very modern design by using premium materials and mood lighting while keeping original’s classic beauty. The Last Mile Mobility in the trunk represents Hyundai's quest for smart mobility solutions – human-centered design.
The front headlights are a homage to the pixel and the 8bit graphics of the 1970s and 80s. The “Pixel Roadtrip” is directly inspired by this design, concentrating and playing with the reduced momentum of the black-and-white pixel animation on its pure surface, and using it as a light source guiding us through that journey. Ever-changing patterns of colored pixel combinations with variable properties such as scale and movement create a graphical stage for the Heritage Series – PONY, a true hero of its era.

  • 2 Color & Light Color is as much a part of everyday life as day and night

Color design has always been a powerful tool for making us understand the functions of the environment to experience them through our senses. Each of us has our own personal idea of the harmonization of color, light and their manifestation in space. Only through light can we experience the immeasurable variety of our surroundings. Color and form are the most important factors determining the first impression of a vehicle and the brand. It is a complex interplay of hue, saturation, texture, surface and effects. What colors will we see on the world's roads in the next few years? How much individuality and personal influence will be possible? Immerse yourself in a visual interplay of color and light and the reflection of your movement. Experience how your presence interacts with changing daylight to have an individual effect on a constantly changing design.

  • 3 Material Explore the human-centered experience offered by future mobility design

Hyundai Motor sees the future of automobiles as an extension of our living space that can be individually designed for the driver and passengers. The use and combination of sustainably produced materials will play a decisive role in creating that space. When personal preferences, tastes and desires find their way into new mobility concepts, it will generate a novel experience for all the senses. We already furnish our work environment and our private living spaces to reflect our own ideas and tastes. Now, we can also custom design the interiors of our cars, transforming them into our very own "perfect space” and improving our quality of life.
Witness a constant flow of gentle movement and materials in the artistic kaleidoscope to form an almost infinite interplay of new design compositions.

  • 4 45 EV Invitation to a new journey where you will see,
    hear and feel the cars.

The 45 represents our present, harmoniously blending past and future and ushering in a new era of EV design. Unveiled for the first time at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA), the 45 pays respect to Hyundai's design with 45 years of history. The design heritage transformed into the future on a new EV platform, paying homage to the Pony Coupe from the 1970s. As Hyundai's first dedicated EV production car, it is now coming to market under the name IONIQ 5. It is the forerunner of a new era of EV mobility that Hyundai will lead in the future. While the body design of 45 pays homage to the Pony, the interior provides an exciting futuristic look. The interior looks like a home you would like to live in. It defines analogue combined with digital - the spirit of the digital age. Design and function follow the "Style Set Free" principle defined by Hyundai Design to emphasize the need in the near future to personalize vehicle environments and on-board systems.

  • 5 Prophecy A timeless beauty and the purest form of the automobile

The design concept of the Prophecy is “Optimistic Futurism.” It embodies the perfect harmony of aesthetics and professionalism and expresses Hyundai Motors latest design philosophy, “Sensuous Sportiness."
The simple and sleek streamlined body is inspired by black pebbles on the beach, while the voluminous fenders and sleek silhouette are shaped to enhance aerodynamic performance. Instead of a steering wheel, joysticks provide a completely new yet reassuringly familiar and intuitive driving experience. Pixels integrated into the headlights, taillights and spoiler come together to form a holistic form and present a new level of expressive freedom. The pixelated lamp design will continue as a signature Hyundai design element. The Prophecy design is based on recyclable, eco-friendly material, a reflection of Hyundai Motors philosophy of pursuing sustainable technology.

  • 6 Media Strings A new spatial experience united and guided by humanity

    Jin-Yo Mok
Media Strings is a kinetic media art installation that reinterprets the vibration and echo of strings with machinery and light. Each string of small LEDs is played by an algorithm, as if the lights are flowing through the strings and producing sound. It is a new spatial experience by harmonizing pure mechanical sounds with string quartet music which varies in accordance with the speed of the strings. The artwork also expresses Hyundai Motor’s design philosophy “Sensuous Sportiness.”

    Artist Statement:
I keep repeating a routinary procedure where I first quickly make simple drawings, and realize them through the complex engineering that seems almost impossible.
In this procedure, my art and my technology start talking and interacting with each other,
    and I enjoy them playing.
